Pickresumefy was started in 2023 by a recruiter and an engineer who both experienced the same broken system — from opposite sides of the interview table.
Why we built this
In 2022, Alex Kim was a senior talent acquisition manager at a large technology company. His team was processing hundreds of applications a week — and the ATS was rejecting the majority before any human read them. He started pulling rejected applications at random and found candidates with strong backgrounds being filtered out for formatting issues, missing keywords, or inconsistent date formats.
Around the same time, Priya Sharma — a software engineer — was applying to senior roles after five years at a startup. Despite her experience, she kept getting silence. A recruiter friend eventually told her bluntly: “Your resume isn't making it through the scanner.” She had no idea ATS systems worked the way they did.
Alex and Priya met at a tech meetup in London. When they compared notes, they discovered they had been on opposite sides of the same broken experience. Priya had the technical skills to fix it. Alex knew exactly what recruiters actually looked for. They built the first version of Pickresumefy over six weekends — a resume builder that was genuinely ATS-aware from the ground up, not as an afterthought.
The product has grown significantly since then, but the goal has not changed: every job seeker deserves a resume that represents them accurately, passes the systems designed to filter them out, and gives them a fair shot at an interview.
