AI/ML Model Engineer Intern

Role Description The AI/ML Model Engineer Intern role at NURY is a 24hr/week remote position. In this role, the intern will be designing, training, evaluating, and optimizing machine learning models that power personalized fitness and nutrition recommendations. Day-to-day tasks may include data preprocessing, feature engineering, implementing and testing ML algorithms, and collaborating with product and engineering to integrate models into production systems. The intern will help monitor model performance, contribute to experimentation and A/B testing, and document workflows and findings. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to solutions that directly impact health outcomes for users. Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning, model evaluation, and optimization.
• Experience with programming languages commonly used in AI/ML (such as Python) and familiarity with libraries or frameworks (such as NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch).
• Ability to work with data, including basic data cleaning, preprocessing, and exploratory data analysis.
• Understanding of software development fundamentals, version control (such as Git), and collaborative coding practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a willingness to iterate and experiment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in cross-functional, diverse teams.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Interest in healthtech, fitness, nutrition, and building inclusive technology for underrepresented communities.
