Job description

Role & responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations for the manufacturing plant and ensure smooth implementation of HR policies and processes.
  • Support manpower planning and recruitment for plant positions, including coordination with recruitment agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Handle employee onboarding, joining formalities, documentation, induction and employee lifecycle activities.
  • Monitor attendance, leave, shift schedules, overtime and manpower deployment in coordination with respective departments.
  • Coordinate with Payroll/Finance for monthly payroll processing, attendance inputs, salary changes, deductions, incentives and other payroll-related requirements.
  • Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters and employee relations in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Maintain employee records, personnel files, HRIS/ERP data and ensure accuracy and confidentiality of employee information.
  • Prepare and monitor HR MIS and dashboards, including headcount, attrition, absenteeism, manpower cost, recruitment status and other HR metrics.
  • Coordinate with departments for performance management, goal setting, appraisal processes and confirmation of employees.
  • Support implementation of training and development programs, including identification of training needs and maintaining training records.
  • Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, welfare activities, communication programs and plant-level employee connect initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, statutory requirements and company HR policies in coordination with the HR Head and relevant consultants.
  • Maintain and monitor statutory HR records relating to contract labour, wages, attendance, leave and other applicable labour compliances.
  • Coordinate with security, administration and department heads for discipline, workforce conduct and plant HR-related requirements.
  • Support management in handling industrial relations and workforce-related issues, including coordination with employees, contract workforce and relevant representatives.
  • Assist in managing contract labour / outsourced manpower, including manpower records, documentation and compliance coordination with contractors.
  • Monitor employee attrition and absenteeism, analyse trends and recommend appropriate retention and engagement measures.
  • Support implementation of POSH, Code of Conduct, grievance redressal and other employee-related policies.
  • Coordinate with HR leadership during internal audits, statutory inspections and compliance reviews, ensuring required records and documentation are available.
  • Provide HR support to the Plant Head and functional managers on employee-related matters, manpower requirements, policies and HR processes. Preferred candidate profile
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce or related discipline.
  • MBA / PGDM in Human Resources preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and employee lifecycle management.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, HRIS/ERP and Excel
  • 58 years of relevant experience in Human Resources.
  • Prior experience in steel, manufacturing, engineering, metals, automotive or other industrial environments preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in plant HR operations is preferred.
  • Experience in employee relations, recruitment, attendance, payroll coordination and statutory compliance.
  • Exposure to contract labour management and industrial relations will be an added advantage.
