Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Lead Full-Stack Engineer to architect and build a digital advertising budget management platform from the ground up. This platform automates budget pacing, campaign scheduling, and quality assurance for paid media campaigns running across major ad platforms — Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, and TikTok — through a unified third-party API. This is a greenfield build. As the Lead Engineer you will own the technical architecture, make stack and infrastructure decisions, and be responsible for the reliability of a system that executes scheduled, business-critical operations outside of business hours. You will work closely with a Product Manager (client-side) and a Junior Engineer, and will interface directly with the outsourced DevOps vendor. Responsibilities Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Design and own the end-to-end technical architecture of the platform including the Budget Engine, Scheduler, Unified API Connector, Campaign Intake Module, and Dashboard
- Make and document key technical decisions: database design, API abstraction strategy, scheduling infrastructure, and deployment approach
- Establish coding standards, code review process, and engineering best practices for the team
- Guide and mentor the Junior Engineer, reviewing their code and providing technical direction
- Collaborate with the outsourced DevOps vendor on infrastructure setup, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring Core Platform Development
- Build the Budget Engine: dynamic daily budget calculation logic supporting even pacing, front-loaded pacing, mid-flight changes, campaign pauses, and extensions
- Build the Scheduler: reliable, time-based job execution for budget pushes, campaign launches, and status changes — including off-hours and holiday periods
- Build and maintain the Unified API Connector: authenticated integration with Unified.to covering Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, and TikTok — handling push and pull operations, rate limits, retries, and error handling
- Build the Audit Log: immutable, timestamped record of every budget decision, push event, and manual override
- Build the Campaign Intake Module: structured data intake with validation against external order management data Reliability & Operations
- Design and implement retry logic, alerting, and failure recovery for all scheduled push operations
- Ensure the scheduler operates reliably 24/7, including weekends and public holidays
- Implement role-based access control and secure credential management for all third-party API keys
- Support post-launch platform operations — bug fixes, Unified.to API updates, performance improvements Requirements
- 4 to 6 years of full-stack software development experience
- Strong Python backend development skills — API design, background job processing, database modeling
- Proficient in React for building operational dashboards and data-driven UIs
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs, including authentication, rate limiting, pagination, and error handling
- Solid experience with background job / task scheduling libraries (e.g. Celery, APScheduler, or equivalent)
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and data modeling for audit/log use cases
- Demonstrated experience building production systems that must operate reliably outside business hours
- Experience leading or mentoring junior developers
- Strong written communication — able to document architecture decisions and API contracts clearly
- Comfortable working asynchronously with a remote, distributed team Nice to Have
- Experience integrating with advertising platform APIs — Google Ads API, Meta Marketing API, LinkedIn Campaign Manager API, or Microsoft Advertising API
- Familiarity with unified advertising API platforms (e.g. Unified.to, Skai, Marin Software, or similar)
- Experience with budget pacing, bid management, or campaign automation tooling
- Familiarity with DevOps practices — CI/CD, containerization (Docker), cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
- Experience building data export pipelines or BI integrations (e.g. Tableau, Looker)
- Experience with AI-assisted QA or automated testing frameworks
